Massachusetts Bill HD.4420 Destroys the 2nd Amendment with Purpose
This Bill is the worst of the worst, and at least some if it stands a good chance at passing
At the beginning of 2023, Representative Michael Day, who also chairs the Judiciary Committee in the Commonwealth, embarked on a Gun Law Listening Tour. With topics ranging from suicide to challenges faced by gun owners and dealers in the state of Massachusetts, Representative Day promised that he would listen and work with all sides when crafting any new gun legislation in the state.
But as the Listening Tour progressed, it became more apparent that Representative Day never intended to listen to anyone except the gun control groups that donate to him and Democratic Party members, exclusively. Not only did it takes months for Representative Day to actual develop a schedule of events to be submitted to the public, there were stops along the tour that were cancelled or occurred earlier than stated without any notice to the public.
In other words, the tour was a sham, and nothing more than a PR stunt for a politician who thinks being a staunch anti-2nd Amendment advocate is the way to move up in politics.
The deception was finalized this week, as Representative Day and a few Co-Sponsors put forth Bill HD.4420, titled “An Act to Modernize Firearm Laws,” is the worst elements of Illinois, New York, California, Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii anti-gun legislation all rolled into one. It’s a wish list of the Disarmament Media Complex and Maura Healey.
Among other ridiculous things like calling for a mandatory gun confiscation program, mandating the serialization of all magazines, and creating a registry of guns, parts, and modifications, Bill HD.4420 makes it essentially illegal to carry a firearm anywhere, and turns law abiding citizens into felons. It greatly expands police power and abilities to erode civil liberties, and opens up numerous ways for government to intrude and surveil its residents.
Even if you are someone who believes that AR-15s and AK-47s don’t belong in the hands of non-military, this Bill effectively prohibits common pistol and revolver ownership by mandating smart devices, the serialization of magazines, and mandated reporting of simple changes to a pistol, like replacing an optic or putting on grip tape.
Simply put, this bill is a threat to all citizens everywhere who believe in civil liberties and the 2nd Amendment. This type of anti-2nd Amendment legislation will make it’s way from the East Coast, to the South, and to the West if it is not stopped. And stopping it takes money and time.
If you can afford to do so, I highly suggest you donate to GOAL - Gun Owners Action League - based out of Massachusetts. And if and when the time comes, donate to whichever groups are willing to take on Massachusetts and anti-2nd Amendment governments everywhere.
